Ashley Harrier's Teaching Experience
After earning a BA degree in Journalism from Penn State University (Go Lions!), I became a corporate trainer based in the Washington, D.C. area. My main focus was on telecommunications systems and the computer programs that support them. I decided to get a more "formal" education in technology, and enrolled in USF's Management of Information Systems program where I earned an MS in 2002. In January of 2003 I was hired as a full-time Computer Science Instructor at the Plant City campus of Hillsborough Community College. I was awarded tenure in 2006, and in 2008, I became the Program Manager of AS/Technical Programs at my campus. So in addition to my full-time teaching duties, I create course schedules, hire and evaluate adjuncts, as well as many other items. In the Fall of 2011 I earned a promotion in rank to Assistant Professor of Computer Science. In the Fall of 2019, I was promoted to the rank of Professor. Beginning in the Fall of 2010, I began teaching a section of EME 2040 (Intro to Technology for Educators) at the USF Tampa Campus. I am currently a doctoral candidate at USF in the department of Instructional Technology, working on my dissertation: Self-regulated learning across fully online, blended, and face to face courses in the community college.
